Our client is the authorized distributor in India for a globally established manufacturer of marine and power plant equipment. The product portfolio includes separation systems, heat transfer solutions, freshwater generation units, pumps, filtration systems, and related spare parts supplied to shipowners, shipyards, offshore operators, and industrial clients. This hiring is part of a focused market expansion strategy. The role is confidential and not publicly branded at this stage.
Role Summary
The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and expanding the Indian market for specialized marine and power products. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong technical understanding, relationship driven sales capability, and experience managing long sales cycles.
The candidate must be comfortable engaging directly with shipowners, shipyards, OEMs, fleet managers, and industrial customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop business across marine, offshore, and power generation segments
- Manage complete sales cycles from opportunity identification to order closure
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers and accounts
- Conduct technical presentations, commercial discussions, and negotiations
- Coordinate closely with engineering, logistics, and service teams
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and market intelligence
- Provide regular reporting on pipeline, competition, and market trends
Candidate Profile
Mandatory Requirements
- Engineering background in Marine, Mechanical, or related technical discipline
- Minimum 7 years of B2B industrial sales experience
- Prior exposure to marine, shipping, offshore, or power industries
- Proven experience selling technical or engineered products
- Strong industry network with shipowners, shipyards, engineering firms, or industrial buyers
- Willingness to travel extensively across South India
- Willingness to relocate to Chennai
Preferred Attributes
- Experience with pumps, separation systems, heat exchangers, or filtration equipment
- Mature negotiation skills and commercial judgment
- Ability to translate technical solutions into commercial value
Compensation
Competitive fixed compensation with performance linked incentives. Final package will be aligned with experience and industry exposure.
